The Town Council has submitted an application to include Marlborough (with Manton), Mildenhall, Preshute and Savernake as our Neighbourhood Area. The Steering Group is made up of volunteers from the community and representatives from various organisations who have been working hard towards this first stage in the process of producing a Neighbourhood Plan which will have real influence on planning issues in the years to come. To comment on the application just log on to Wiltshire Council's consultation portal at http://consult.wiltshire.gov.uk/portal. This runs to 24th February. You can also keep up to date with the latest developments on the Neighbourhood PlanFacebook page.

Just before the schools broke up for the summer holidays, students from St Peter's School took part in an art competition as part of South West in Bloom - this year's theme was 'A day in the park'. You may have seen some of their handiwork displayed in Hampton's window in the High Street.
On Friday 18th September Cllr. Mrs Margaret Rose, the Town Mayor, was invited to take part in an inspiring assembly at the school. As well as handing out badges to the newly elected School Councillors, she was delighted to award certificates to some of the prize winners, although five have moved up to St John's for the start of the new school year. Watch the Mayor's Blog for more thoughts on this later in the month. Pictured are some of the prize winners proudly holding their certificates (click on the photo to enlarge it). Well done to the winners, and our thanks to everyone who entered, the Mayor had a really hard job to judge them all!
The paintings and, in one case, sculpture, helped to enhance the Marlborough in Bloom entry this year. We've all got our fingers crossed for Thursday 24th September, when the South West in Bloom results will be announced at an award ceremony in Dartmouth.
