St Peter's students painting competition winners

Just before the schools broke up for the summer holidays, students from St Peter's School took part in an art competition as part of South West in Bloom - this year's theme was 'A day in the park'. You may have seen some of their handiwork displayed in Hampton's window in the High Street.

On Friday 18th September Cllr. Mrs Margaret Rose, the Town Mayor, was invited to take part in an inspiring assembly at the school. As well as handing out badges to the newly elected School Councillors, she was delighted to award certificates to some of the prize winners, although five have moved up to St John's for the start of the new school year. Well done to the winners, and our thanks to everyone who entered, the Mayor had a really hard job to judge them all! 

The paintings and, in one case, sculpture, helped to enhance the Marlborough in Bloom entry this year. We've all got our fingers crossed for Thursday 24th September, when the South West in Bloom results will be announced at an award ceremony in Dartmouth.
