Events, Festivals and Concerts
There's a thriving arts scene in and around Marlborough
MUSIC
For music lovers, the Marlborough College Concert Series brings classical performances to the stunning Memorial Hall throughout the year. Since 1999 Marlborough Folk Roots has been presenting the finest folk and roots music at venues as diverse as the Town Hall, churches, church halls, schools and theatres, and independent record store Sound Knowledge puts on occasional concerts too. Mantonfest is an annual outdoor family friendly music festival, while St Peter's plays host to occasional music recitals, talks and art exhibitions. Local pubs often have live music at the weekend too.
ART
Art exhibitions as well as hands-on workshops take place at the gallery at the White Horse Bookshop, and there are occasional exhibitions at the Mount House Gallery at Marlborough College, modern art at Katharine House Gallery and the Town Hall. Just outside Marlborough and in a stunning setting, Rabley Gallery and Drawing Centre also holds exhibitions. During July a host of local artists open up their studios as part of the Open Studios art trail, a wonderful way to explore the area.
Literature
Book lovers aren't forgotten either, with the Marlborough Literature Festival held every autumn.
