Apprenticeship Vacancy
Earn while you learnInformation: we all need it! Would you love to share information about Marlborough with residents and visitors and spread the word about what happens in our area?
We have created an opportunity for someone to work with us as an Information Officer via a Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship. This is an opportunity to earn a wage while studying at New College, Swindon, resulting in an A-Level equivalent qualification.
You will be assisting with the Council’s information services for residents and visitors.
The role, in part, will be to maintain a key focus on developing the visitor and resident experience around Marlborough; proactively looking for opportunities to enhance or develop this experience.
Duties include: face to face provision of information and by telephone and email; updating visitor apps, supporting events and writing articles for publication (press, online, social media).
Last year Emma completed a Business Administration apprenticeship with us in the same role, working at our Marlborough offices and studying at New College Swindon.
She passed her exams with distinction, and on 5 January this year she started work in her chosen career in a permanent job. You can read about her experience in our news article "Emma's Distinction". She said:
“I have learnt so much working here that I wouldn’t have been able to
without the apprenticeship, everyone was so supportive and really welcomed
me into the team. I couldn't have achieved a distinction without the help of
New College and the experience I gained within the Council, I’m very grateful
for everything they have helped me achieve.”
This apprenticeship was a great success for us too - so much so that we're repeating it, again in partnership with New College.
At the end of the apprenticeship the successful applicant should be confident that they have skills and experience that will set them up for a career in a wide range of sectors: administration, local government, customer service, digital creator, event management, tourism and much more.
Applications are invited until 30 January.
