Emma's Distinction

{Play}Apprenticeship proves a great success

A year ago we introduced you to apprentices Emma Cook and Matt Powell.  Emma's apprenticeship was for 18 months, while Matt's is longer at 3 years.

Emma 's course was the Business and Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 at New College, Swindon, and she joined us in the role of Information Officer.

CertificateA few weeks ago Emma took her final exams and we're thrilled to announce that she passed with distinction, the highest possible grade.

Her assessor at New College said: "Emma is a role model for other apprentices by consistently demonstrating professionalism, resilience, sharing best practices and a positive attitude toward learning".  She has demonstrated these qualities and more during her time with us, which is coming to a close early: we're pleased to say that she has accepted a job in her chosen field and starts her new career in January, leaving us later this month.

You may have seen some of Emma's work: if you follow us on Facebook, she's been running the #MarlboroughBehindTheScenes series of posts to raise more awareness about the broad array of work undertaken by our grounds team and partner, Wiltshire Council's parish steward.  On Instagram, she has welcomed new businesses to Marlborough and helped promote the town and its events.  For visitors, she created a 'hidden Marlborough' interactive trail on the Explore Wiltshire app, and took care of our information kiosk in the George Lane car park.

These are just a few of her achievements: for more please read our press release.

This was a new initiative for the Town Council, and the team rose to the challenge of embracing a young person new to the work environment and supporting them in their progression.  Emma proved to be a brilliant candidate for the position, and we're proud of her achievements and very sorry to see her go.

It can be particularly hard for young people to find a pathway into employment, and being able to open a door for Emma has proven to be a proud moment for us all.

Please join us in wishing her every success in the future.
