Consultation

We feel that consultation is an important part of finding out what local residents think about issues in Marlborough. From time to time, the Town Council will consult on various matters to help obtain feedback and use this along with other information to help reach decisions. We aim to use a range of methods – face to face, online, paper surveys and social media.

Wiltshire Council holds regular consultation exercises. More information can be found at Wiltshire Council’s Consultation Portal

20During March and April 2018 Marlborough Town Council conducted a public consultation about 20mph speed restrictions in parts of Marlborough.

The survey closed on Friday 27 April and the responses from the online and paper surveys were collected and collated and brought together in a report which is available here.

At an Extraordinary Full Council meeting on 30 April, Town Councillors considered this feedback and voted in favour of recommending to Wiltshire Council's Community Area Transport Group (CATG) that 20mph speed restrictions are put in place in the full qualifying areas of Marlborough with the addition of 20mph roundels on St Martins and Kingsbury Street. This was in line with the overall outcome of the consultation exercise.

Background: click here to read the Highways & Transport Report following the Metrocount exercise, and if you would like to read the appendices please contact us and we will send you by email (file size is over 10MB).

In 2013 volunteers working with the Marlborough Community Orchard planted more than 200 apple trees around the town to create a town in an orchard. One of these sites, The Green, is common land registered to the Town Council. While permission was granted in 2012 for three apple trees to be planted at The Green, local people asked that this is re-visited. So the trees were removed while we found out from as many Marlborough residents as possible if they felt whether The Green was the right place for them to be planted.
The consultation closed on Friday, 14th June 2013.
