Possible solution to HGV problems in Silverless Street
Residents and drivers will want to be aware of new arrangements being put in place to test out a solution to ongoing problems with HGVs attempting to use Silverless Street. This has often resulted in damage to buildings, particularly at the Kingsbury Street end.
Wiltshire Council has recently issued a traffic order which will apply "No Entry" signs to the A346 (Herd Street) entrance to Silverless Street. This will not make Silverless Street one way, and although drivers won't be able to turn into Silverless Street from the A346 they will still be able to exit the road at either end. This is likely to take effect from week commencing 8th February. Later, an "Unsuitable for HGVs" sign will be put up near the Town Hall in an attempt to discourage HGVs from using Kingsbury Street and then turning into Silverless Street. Read more...
