Wiltshire Connect
A free Easter bus ride and £1 Saturday faresWiltshire Council is pleased to offer a more affordable, convenient way to travel following the successful introduction of a demand responsive bus service.
Wiltshire Connect is a bookable bus service operating in the Pewsey Vale and Marlborough areas, and from Saturday 6 April until Saturday 29 June inclusive, the Council is offering fares for just £1 for all rides booked on a Saturday. Simply enter the promo code SAT24 into the Wiltshire Connect booking app to benefit from the reduced fare.
Unlike a typical bus service, Wiltshire Connect vehicles operate on a pre-bookable, on-demand basis, allowing you to travel between any designated pick-up and drop-off point within each zone. You can travel between any location within the three operating zones, Pewsey Vale, Marlborough and Great Bedwyn, and Marlborough and Hungerford.
Rides can be booked using the Wiltshire Connect app on Google Play - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ioki.wiltshire&hl=en_US or Apple App Store - https://apps.apple.com/kh/app/wiltshire-connect/id6445890754 or by calling 01225 712900. Smart technology will match up your journey with any other passengers travelling in the same direction. As well as the fantastic Saturday promotion, on Good Friday (Friday 29 March) and Saturday 30 March, anyone who books a ride and enters the promo code Easter24 into the app before booking will receive a completely free ride on either day.
Cllr Tamara Reay, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “Wiltshire Connect has been a fantastic success so far, with more than 27,000 passengers using the service, and more than 5,000 people downloading the easy-to-use smartphone app. It's really easy for people of all ages to book their bus journey on the smartphone app, or by calling our dedicated phone line, up to seven days before they wish to travel or with as little as 30 minutes' notice.
“We have committed to having vibrant, well-connected communities with improved rural bus links in our Business Plan, and Wiltshire Connect does just this. The £1 offer for all rides booked on Saturday means that our residents in rural areas can travel for a very cheap price, which will no doubt help them to feel more connected to their local communities.”
People can book a ride Monday-Friday between 6am-8pm and on Saturdays between 7.30am-8pm. The Wiltshire Connect app is available to download on Apple and Android devices, and anyone without access to a smartphone can call 01225 712900 to book their ride.
