Become a Town Councillor

{Play}EAST ward vacancy to be filled by co-option

Written on 25 July

On 17 July we advertised a town councillor vacancy as being in West Ward.

We hold our hands up in apology for the error and any confusion caused: with two vacancies being handled in different ways, we advertised this as WEST when it should have said EAST ward.   For the vacancy in West ward, we will know early August whether there will be an election or whether we can also move to co-option - see our news item published on 4 July for more detail.

If you would like to make a difference, give something back to your neighbourhood and represent your community, why not consider becoming a Town Councillor?

Following a resignation there is a vacancy for a Councillor to represent Marlborough's East Ward and, as there were no eligible candidates for election, the Town Council can now co-opt someone to this position.

If you would like to discuss the role informally before making up your mind, please get in touch with the Town Clerk, Richard Spencer-Williams, or Deputy Town Clerk, Clare Harris.

Application forms are available as paper packs from our offices, or pdfclick here to open a PDF version.  It explains who is eligible to apply and contains all the information you should need to complete your application.

Please apply no later than 4pm on 1 September.

Interviews will take place in the Town Hall at an Extraordinary meeting of Full Town Council on Monday, 18 September at 7pm.
