Annual Report 2021-22

After the lockdowns of 2020 and, given the COVID-19 restrictions in place in the first part of 2021, this was a busy year for Marlborough Town Council.

A new 4-year Council term began, and Councillor Mark Cooper was elected Town Mayor at an Annual Town Council without the usual Mayor Making ceremony.  Covid restrictions meant that no guests could be invited, and Councillors and staff wore face masks and sat apart to follow social distancing rules.

Highlights for the period included the Dark Skies Fest finally going ahead - very successfully - after being postponed by COVID the previous year, and families welcoming the return of the ever popular Mop Fairs, Christmas Market and lights switch-on.

Structural and refurbishment works were carried out at the Town Hall, the Skate Park gained lighting, we replaced most of our diesel tools with electric, and the Community Fridge opened in George Lane car park.  The Town was awarded coach-friendly status at the perfect time to welcome back visitors to enjoy the benefits of the town and support our retail and hospitality businesses.

All this and more, including overviews of our services, finances, and Committee projects are covered.  Click here to read it
