Your new town councillor
Meet your new Marlborough Town Councillor for East Ward, Mr Kelvyn Shantry.
On Tuesday, 3 May 2022 the Town Clerk met with new Town Councillor Kelvyn Shantry when he signed his acceptance of office. Kelvyn was the only candidate to put his name forward following recent Notices of Election to fill this Council seat and, as the number of candidates was equal to the number of seats available, he was duly elected without contest so there will not be an election.
Kelvyn is married to Anna, and they have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. He is no stranger to Marlborough or to local government: having previously lived in Marlborough for 15 years, they moved to Devon when Kelvyn retired from business. He was a councillor there for 5 years, involved with his local community at town and district level with a particular interest in housing in that area.
Devon might be the dream retirement location for some but, home is where the heart is and about five years ago he and Anna returned to the Marlborough area, renting until finally able to settle into their own home here in Marlborough.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming him to the Town Council.
