Volunteers Week
A perfect time to say thank you
#VolunteersWeek couldn't be a better time for our Mayor, Councillor Mark Cooper, to present cheques to his charities for the past year. Pictured are Janet Louth accepting a cheque on behalf of the Friends of Savernake Hospital and Ann Yates for Marlborough Area Poverty Action Group.
At the Annual Town Meeting (formerly known as 'annual parish') on Tuesday the Mayor expressed his heartfelt thanks to all involved for the work they do. He will continue to support these charities this year, adding a new one to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease Association.
But it doesn't stop there! The Mayor paid tribute to everyone across our community who steps forward to help others: whether those of you who helped out with shopping for neighbours during a year of COVID-19 lockdowns, provided Love Marlborough Kids Meals hot meals or the folks at Transition Marlborough who we are supporting to open Marlborough's Community Fridge in George Lane on Saturday. We can't omit our wonderful litter pickers either!
If we haven't mentioned you here we apologise - but we really appreciate everything each of you does.
