Neighbourhood Planning
The Town Council is continuing its work to scope out a Neighbourhood Plan for Marlborough. This process provides a statutory right for local people to influence development and growth in their area. Within parameters, they are able to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built, have their say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided. This process is a long one involving plenty of consultation but, once a plan is published, it becomes part of the planning system for helping to determine planning applications.
Town Councillors have met with representatives from the Malmesbury Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group who have worked through the process and now have a Plan in place - the first in Wiltshire. This was a really useful meeting and will help to provide a template to take our own Plan forward. The next step will be to draw together representatives to join a Steering Group. If you would like to be a part of this group, please contact the Town Clerk at the Town Council Offices.
