On Tuesday, 28th September our Mayor will be at Marlborough Common to cheer on the participants and congratulate the winning team of the Gorkana Cup.
This event is part of a series of fixtures in the 4MI calendar, planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of 4 Military Intelligence Battalion. Having been granted the Freedom of Marlborough, this year we were delighted that they have chosen Marlborough for the start/finish point. If you'd like to cheer them at the start or return, they'll be setting out from Marlborough Rugby Club on the Common at 09:30, with the presentation of the cup taking place from 16:30.
This event is similar to orienteering with teams reaching as many check points as possible in the wider landscape around Marlborough. They score points for each one they reach within the allotted time of the event and the team with the most points takes the win. The Town Council's very own Belinda and Clare deserve a huge "well done" too for creating their own team to take part alongside the military competitors.
Many thanks to Marlborough Rugby Club for supporting this event.
