{Play}Under the Re-opening of High Streets Safely Scheme administered by Wiltshire Council, five small areas of High Street pavement will be widened giving some of those in the hospitality sector an opportunity to use the additional space to offer an al fresco service whilst making sure pedestrians remain safe.  Businesses taking advantage of this scheme will need to apply for a free temporary pavement licence from Wiltshire Council.   Five premises will be affected – The Food Gallery, The Polly Tea Rooms, Caffè Nero, The Royal Oak and Bunce's.  We have been assured that this will involve the loss of only 12 free parking spaces. The work to erect safety bollards and barriers will take place from 8am on Thursday, 20 August.  There may be some noise disruption, but this will be kept to a minimum.  Full plans for the scheme are here.

The scheme will be monitored closely by the Town Council and Wiltshire Council and it will be regularly reviewed.
