A blooming marvellous day for Marlborough in Bloom

MiB Awards Mayor Anne Crawley Richard BealeNAMECAPWell done Marvellous Marlborough!  At Thursday 24th's South West in Bloom award ceremony at the prestigious Britannia Naval College, Dartmouth, Marlborough in Bloom again did well. During the afternoon, regional prizes were announced from special guest, Jonathan Dimbleby. Our MiB team were called up to the stage to collect another Silver Gilt award, just pipped to the post to the SWTA Cup by Kingsbridge.

Individual groups around the town also did well with the Old Victorian Cemetery and Manton in Bloom achieving Thriving awards, and Stonebridge Meadow presented with an  Outstanding certificate - the highest category. ARK won silverware for its native planting there and was short-listed for its environmental work. A fantastic result.

Marlborough was also short-listed for it's overall portfolio. Marlborough Waterfront Association received a special mention too - and amongst stiff competition. And cheers to The Lamb Inn, which won third place in the south west for its floral display for a pub.  Click here for full list of SWiB awards.  More awards photos can be seen in the Marlborough in Bloom Gallery.

In summary: Marlborough was awarded a Silver Gilt certificate.
It's Your Neighbourhood Awards: Stonebridge Wild River Reserve (Outstanding), Friends of the Old Victorian Cemetery (Thriving), and Manton in Bloom (Thriving)
Discretionary Awards: Action for the River Kennet for best use of native plants, indiginous to the area (Monk Trophy), and Best Floral Pub in the South West - The Lamb Inn (3rd Prize)
